The Bar Tailed Godwit
Comparing yourself to a bar-tailed godwit, a bird known for its long migratory journeys, allowed me to reflect on the aspects of your life that might not be conducive to your personal and professional growth. This metaphor likely encouraged you to identify and shed resources that aren’t helping you in your journey of reinvention.
🚀 Exciting Journey of Reinvention! 🚀
I recently embarked on a four-week course on achieving a state of flow in our work as reinvention practitioners with 3iiis Group. The first week has been incredibly enlightening, and I wanted to share some key takeaways:
✅ Setting Clear Goals: In the first week, we were tasked with listing our goals for the year 2024 and expressing them as a range. This exercise likely helped to define our priorities and create a flexible road map for the year ahead. It’s all about flexibility and focus!
🐦 The Bar-Tailed Godwit Metaphor: Reflecting on the incredible journeys of this bird made me think about the resources I allocate in my life. Comparing myself to a bar-tailed godwit, a bird known for its long migratory journeys, allowed me to reflect on the aspects of your life that might not be conducive to your personal and professional growth. What am I carrying along that doesn’t help me soar?
💡 Resource Management: Managing time, energy, and money wisely is a critical skill. As Certified Reinvention Practitioners (CRPs), we excel at this, and for us it’s crucial to be efficient in setting goals and letting go of non-essential pursuits, a skill that we can pass on to our clients. We must ensure that every investment aligns with our goals.
💪 Working with the Hungry: One major revelation for me was the importance of collaborating with individuals who share my hunger for personal and professional growth. Surrounding myself with like-minded individuals is a catalyst for continuous progress and improvement.
🤝 Introducing the Easy Lab: I’ve been introducing friends, family, colleagues, and professional contacts to the Easy Lab. However, I’ve set a limitation (a line I am not willing to cross to achieve my goals): if they haven’t taken the leap within a year, it’s time to reassess our connection. It’s crucial to invest my time where it matters most.
📵 Less Social Media, More Human Connection: I’m making a conscious shift from excessive social media use towards investing more time in building meaningful relationships and facilitating workshops. Real human connections and hands-on experiences are at the core of my reinvention journey.
Now, here’s a question to fuel our discussion: What’s the most valuable lesson you’ve learned in your journey of reinvention, and how has it shaped your approach to personal and professional growth?
